Orlando, Florida – Building Homes for Heroes, along with the fire departments from Orange County and the City of Ocoee, is proud to announce a homecoming celebration to welcome Army Staff Sergeant William Castillo and family to their new home at 12768 Enclave Drive in Orlando on Wednesday, September 1, 2010.  Joining in the celebration will be local dignitaries, volunteer merchants, volunteer members of the construction team, military personnel, Orange County firefighters, Ocoee firefighters and community members, corporate sponsors, members of civic organizations, etc.
In an effort to save the lives of downed Marines, Staff Sergeant Castillo took five shots – including one that exited through his mouth – after a bomb exploded under his Humvee in Iraq.  He was struggling to get back to the burning truck to help his buddies when a missile cut through the vehicle, and severed his left leg.  This amazing young soldier survived two explosions and five bullet wounds while part of a team that saved the lives of others.  He was the lone survivor in his vehicle.  William and his wife Katherine have four children.
Building Homes for Heroes recognizes the tremendous sacrifices of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces by supporting the needs of severely wounded or disabled soldiers and their families.  It is a national organization committed to supporting these brave men and women, with a goal to build homes for families in dire need. It is also devoted to building one home per year in Central Florida.
